FIFA has confirmed pathway assignments will be randomized rather than following strict ranking hierarchy, maintaining some degree of unpredictability. However, the fundamental competitive edge remains: these four powers enjoy structural advantages that facilitate their advancement.
The historic 48-team tournament format divides participants into 12 groups of four teams for the opening phase. Seeding begins with pot one, which includes guaranteed positions for host nations United States, Mexico, and Canada.
