Oman, Norway Explore Economic Cooperation and Trade Opportunities in Manila Meeting

During the ASEAN ministerial meeting in Manila, which commemorated the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation, Oman’s Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, engaged in discussions with his Norwegian counterpart, Espen Barth Eide. The meeting highlighted the enduring friendship between Oman and Norway, with both ministers expressing a strong desire to enhance bilateral relations in areas of shared interest.

The dialogue between the two officials underscored the importance of strengthening ties, an objective that has been a consistent focus in their diplomatic engagements. By exploring avenues for cooperation, the ministers aimed to build upon the foundation of their longstanding relationship, which has been characterized by mutual respect and collaboration.

In addition to bilateral matters, the ministers exchanged perspectives on current regional issues. A significant portion of their discussion centered on the necessity of reducing tensions in the region. They emphasized the critical importance of maintaining the free flow of maritime navigation and ensuring the stability of global supply chains, particularly through the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
