With the approach of Storm Austen, the Netherlands has issued yellow weather warnings for the regions of Limburg, Zeeland, and South Holland. The storm is expected to bring wind gusts reaching at least 75 kilometers per hour, impacting the country’s weather over the weekend.
Initially, the southwestern areas and the hills of Limburg are set to experience the brunt of the storm on Friday evening. The strong winds are forecasted to spread across the nation overnight, with particularly severe gusts anticipated along the coastal areas.
Saturday’s weather is predicted to offer a brief respite with fewer showers, some sunshine, and calmer winds. However, by Saturday evening, the Netherlands is expected to face a return of heavy rain and stronger gusts as the storm continues its course.
The unsettled weather will persist into Sunday, especially affecting the northern regions with continued strong winds and showers. Meanwhile, the southern parts of the country may enjoy more sunshine. Throughout this period, temperatures are expected to remain cool, not exceeding 13°C over the weekend.
